Penza, 7 February 2016. PenzaNews. The St. Petersburg “Avrora” has won the Russian Women’s Mini-Football Cup after the Final Four held in Penza on February 5-6.

With this victory, the club once again got hold of the honorary trophy after 5 years.

During the decisive match, the players of “Avrora” won against the Moscow “Torpedo-MAMI” with the final count of 4:2.

The bronze match between the Penza “Laguna-UOR” and the near-Moscow “Snezhana-Kotelniki” was a success for the Kotelniki club at 4:3.

In his comment on the Final Four, Emil Aliyev, president of the Russian Mini-Football Association, noted that the final matches satisfied all expectations.

“After great struggle, one of the eldest women’s clubs of our country – the St. Petersburg ‘Avrora’ – earned the honorary trophy. From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate all team players and its president, Eduard Petrovich Batkin, who is one of the main visionaries of this futsal variation in our country. I feel obligated to point out that the Moscow ‘Torpedo-MAMI’ reached the top final game for the second time in its history. This is a big achievement for the MAMI Moscow State University of Mechanical Engineering and its principal Andrei Vladimirovich Nikolaenko, who back in his time made a very important and responsible decision to answer the call of the Russian Mini-Football Association to test the waters with professional women’s mini-football. The great desire and thoughtful work by the coach Alexander Alexandrovich Pleshakov brought the MAMI team into the lead,” he said.

The struggle for the third place was very intense, Emil Aliyev added.

“I am pleased to say that the Penza ‘Laguna-UOR’ which put its stakes into young players competed head-to-head with the more experienced ‘Snezhana-Kotelniki’ team. As a representative of the Russian Mini-Football Association, I congratulate the heads of the clubs – Vitaly Nikolaevich Antonov and Sergei Vasilyevich Cherepushkin – with participation in the Final Four and vivid play by their teams, and wish them to continue striving for greatness,” stressed the president of the Association.

In the official ceremony after the final match, the winning teams received awards from Grigory Kabelsko, head of the Penza region Sports Ministry; Nikolai Boleev, cheiamrn of the regional Football Federation; Maxim Savenkov, head of the professional mini-football department and reserve training of the Russian Mini-Football Association; and Grigory Vyalkin, head coach of the competitions.
